When dressing for cold winter days, it can seem impossible to pile on the heavy layers without looking overwhelming and frumpy. But you can master the art of the bundle and look long, lean, and chic with just a few simple tricks:

• Save the 'boyfriend' jeans for spring. Stick with slim fitted pants, and if you're more voluptuous on top, balance out your figure with a slight flare.
• If you're vertically challenged, try boots with a heel or wedge to elongate the body.
• Instead of piling on too many thin layers, invest in sweaters and coats made of 100% wool.
• Avoid a bulky look by layering tops that vary in length. 
• Cinch your sweater at the waist.
• Black is always slimming. Monochromatic outfits can have the same effect.

Shorts Story

After years of solely sticking to leather bags, shoes, and jackets , I have finally come around to the idea of leather clothing. I always thought people looked quite silly wearing say leather pants, with the exception of supermodels or Emmanuelle Alt, who can wear leather pants to bed and look normal. But after testing out the trend with a faux leather t-shirt from H&M, I am now craving leather everything... shorts, skirts, pants. If they sell leather lingerie... I want it.

When paired with contrasting textures like chiffon and chunky knits, a hint of leather brings a tough feel to a soft, feminine look. So after some searching and great reviews, I opted for these leather shorts by Silence & Noise from Urban Outfitters. Now to wait for their arrival.
